Salad made with one hand (The left one)

There was a time when Soenke had to make do with his left hand for everything. That was when he broke his right wrist while inline skating. Obviously he was too bored after being cooped up at home all day and not being able to do much, was simmering in boredom and frustration.

And so he decided to make us dinner! This post is a bit late but definitely worth posting. Take a look at the masterpiece made with one hand!

Salad greens, baby tomatoes, sweet corn and crispy chicken drizzled with oil and vinegar. The best part is focus on how chopped up the greens are! One hand and that guy could chop 'em up better than I could with my two hands. Bravo!!

Fast food @ Home

Whee....it's Saturday and I am on a low-iodine diet. We came back from Carrefour after successfully procuring salt that I need. Yes, low-iodine diet means you have to be especially careful with salt. Sea salt is no-no. Iodized salt is no-no as well. Both of these are rampant in our supermarkets.

Half starved and not allowed to eat any outside food, we rushed home with our groceries and started cooking immediately. Soenke did wonders to a nice piece of pork  with herbs and spices and I made salad. and peeled the potatoes. So in about roughly 20 minutes or so, we tucked into a very good dinner.
Soenke's platter comes with a serving of giant strawberry. It was one of the few strawberries left from the box that we swallowed while cooking.

My plate is wonderfully full of rosemary garlic pork, chips and arugula (rocket) salad. The pork is juicy inside and have a nice crispy layer on the outside. Yum!

Simple, fast and super satisfying. And that involves the important food groups too! See, we ate a tonne of greens! Tummy was gurgling happily after that. The night ended with a lazy lie on the sofa and in front of the teevee. :)

Toast - toasty warm after feeling

Following an afternoon of walking in the city center we found ourselves at Ngee Ann City near dinner time. The natural reaction is of course, to pop by Toast before it closes! I didn't yet savor every of their offerings as this is only my second time there but I remember loving the Chicken Caesar Sandwich. Excitedly I skipped there with Soenke.

Alone, I would always have problems locating this store. It's tucked at a funny corner that is not within the main area where you see all the tenants are. Easiest way for me, despite Soenke's directions and him making me repeat after him, is to locate the Christian Louboutin and Stuart Weitzman boutiques and turn into the walkway between the two stores, walking straight out, pass the toilets and pass the glass doors.

Let's have a look at what we shared for a light dinner:

Strawberry cupcake. Butter cupcake with strawberry flavored butter cream on top. Very simple and enjoyable. Things in life don't have to be complicated huh :)

Yummy chicken Caesar sandwich. I love the bread. I think it's called panini. Very yummy but somehow memory tells me it was better last time. Perhaps it's due to the fact that they were near closing time then. Sad...

There was a smoothie called Summer which is a blend of banana and strawberries plus milk? It was very yummy too but I think I'd like to try other smoothies next time. Can just keep going back to this place haha!

Breakfast at Casa Verde

The Singapore Botanic Gardens have been a topic of our conversations lately. So the best thing to do is pay a visit to it. And the best way to enjoy the visit? A great breakfast after a wonderful walk amidst nature.

Stumbling upon Casa Verde, (well, we were looking for it intentionally but you know the feeling you get when you finally found something? Hence the word "stumble" is used) you will be greeted by panting dogs lying next to their owners with bowls of water and baby prams! It simply feels like a great place for a morning get together.

We did not have much time for breakfast as Soenke had to go to work after that but breakfast was definitely great, especially when you sum it with the whole ambiance factor.

My french toast. Looks great, doesn't it? It tasted great too. Like packed full of wholesomeness to kick-start a day.

Soenke's strawberry pancakes that comes with maple syrup, cut strawberries and whipped cream with some chocolate sauce (I think)

I didn't blog this until now, although we went there sometime ago. Truly enjoyed having breakfast with greenery around me. Oh great Gaia, I worship thee.

Say Hi to FiveFingers!

Say hi to Vibram Fivefingers! And welcome to the world of going barefoot! Yes! My new footwear is as near as it gets to walking barefoot on all terrain and exploring the world as our ancestors did many, many thousands of years ago!

Check out my Vibram Sprint:

Honestly have you ever felt that sports shoes are clunky and bulky that cause you to feel less of your surroundings on foot and somehow, treading on a pair of shoes makes you less balanced? Well, I did! I hated and still hate sports shoes. I hate that I can't grip properly with my toes and have no good feeling on what I stepped on. I feel each step is restricted and have a higher chance of falling to my death when in sports shoes. This explains why I am not a big fan of these shoes and had owned only a handful so far. But walking with Fivefingers totally changed that. I loved it. I chose a model that is designed to do a lot! (As the list goes it includes: Light Trekking, Climbing, Canyoneering, Running, Fitness Training, Martial Arts, Yoga, Pilates, Sailing, Boating, Kayaking, Canoeing, Surfing, Flats Fishing, Travel)

What can I say! This is amazing and re-opened an old (expired) exuberance to get out there and enjoy nature once again!!
